A chat with the Behinder yesterday left me more confused than ever. In a nutshell: we met and dated briefly before we were forced to part ways geographically for a year. It was later admitted we were 'falling for each other'. Yet when we reconnected, he felt something was missing. We're still friends and talk often.

Him: i'm trying to keep from getting too involved. does that sound reasonable?
Me: ew. That sounds horrible, but yes, I get it.
Him: i would be extremely uncomfortable if you jumped me, for instance, but I am unsure as to what my reaction would be.
Him: whether my instincts would take over
Him: so I try to keep some sort of distance between us. its not much. but enough.

Anyone speak guy-ese? Care to decipher?

No, I'm not dating the guy I've been yapping about for weeks. This is better! Finally - FINALLY - a smarty-pants man has listened to women and their rants about what is wrong with dating today, and blogged about it. Marc F., resident blogger over at the Diary of a Disillusioned Dater, blew up (deservedly) at all the guys out there who "screw my shit up". Meaning, the jackasses that trample over women for their own personal gain, making it harder for the real men out there who actually want to date. Because let's face it: most single women by the time they hit 30 are nursing at least one serious love wound, and I don't hear about nice guys inflicting that kind of lingering damage.

I've never heard of Marc before. I found his link in a forum I read once in a while, and thought the blog name sounded intriguing. As I read further and further into his diatribe however, I was left mumbling to myself, "Finally!" or nodding my head in agreement. Yes sir, you've pretty much pegged every smarmy thing a guy can do to a single woman looking, and did so with the disgust and language the behavior deserves. Brava!

...when you "forget" to post in your blog for a very, very long time. Okay, so in this case I didn't forget really. More like I was swamped with other projects, and this blog was supposed to be more of a fun release for me than actually work. Yet as time passed I realized that this blog was more work than fun, and slowly it fell by the wayside.

In an attempt to revitalize my interest in posting here then, I plan on writing about dating topics that hit a bit closer to home: my own experiences. Therefore the "news" portion of webdatingnews.com becomes, well, my own web dating news.

I understand that there are some people who have subscribed to this RSS feed or stop by every once in a while, thinking they'll get a different slant. For those of you who do: I'm sorry, and I understand if you don't want to stop by anymore. But perhaps a select few will want to stick around and read of my own personal experiences meeting people off the net, and maybe even gather a few others who enjoy reading about this sort of thing. So to those who fit this criteria: welcome.

MTV, in conjunction with Wine Gums candymaker Maynars, is creating a new online dating reality TV show called Date My Playlist, where contestents looking for a date are judged based on their music choices (aka playlists).

Scheduled for release in April, potential contestants can sign up at the Playlist website now (although I'll admit I couldn't take a peek for myself because MTV's site only caters to IE users - and I'm a SeaMonkey kinda girl).

Footage from the singles who are chosen to participate will be used to create eight, ten minute episodes to be aired on TV, online and through Bell Mobility's cellular services.
